A Love Letter to the Queer Community

A commissioning project by the Poiesis Quartet featuring five 10-minute works by emerging QTPOC (Queer and Trans People of Color) composers who are students or alumni of Oberlin College & Conservatory. The works were entirely commissioned by the quartet, whose members are queer- and trans-identifying Oberlin alumni, to expand the string quartet canon with underrepresented voices. The program explores interdisciplinary art, non-Western musical forms, political commentary, and improvisatory sound-making.
