Healing Frequencies

Healing through sound dates back to ancient times, and is recognized by countless global traditions. In their latest cross-genre project, Healing Frequencies, the American String Quartet joins forces with authors J. Mae Barizo and Rachel Eliza Griffiths in a curative program highlighting music's renewing attributes. Featuring works by Maurice Ravel, Josquin des Prez, and "Insects and Machines" (written for ASQ by composer Vivian Fung) the program is anchored by Beethoven’s Op. 132 which he wrote after recovering from a near fatal illness. In addition to the concert hall, this program is ideal for museums, community and wellness centers, financial institutions or other venues whose patrons would benefit from the historic renewing properties of music. Music is interwoven with poetic works that explore the subject of healing and the body by Barizo and Griffiths, two distinguished poets whose work responds to the quartet in a musical journey of deepest attention and care.
