Andrei Ionita on tour with Christian Macelaru and the NRSO

In January the stunning Romanian cellist Andrei Ioniță toured with the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania conducted by the commanding Cristian Măcelaru on their first-ever trip to the U.S. Performances included Enescu’s Romanian Rhapsody No. 1, Strauss’s Suite from Der Rosenkavalier, Andrei’s incredible take on Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor, and Ravel’s much-loved Bolero. Andrei and Cristian – both Romanian – work together often; previous and upcoming projects together include performances of Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the Hallé and National Orchestra of Belgium.
